From the Director of JoeAnna’s House

This year, the heart of JoeAnna’s House grew in ways we could see, and in ways we could feel.

We broke ground on our 10-room expansion, watching a long-held hope begin to take shape. As the walls rose, so did the promise that more families will be able to stay close to the people they love during some of life’s most difficult moments.

We also travelled to communities across the Southern Interior to reconnect with former guests and meet with local hospital foundations, service groups and community members. Those conversations reminded us that every family arrives with a journey, a community behind them, and a story that continues long after they return home.

JoeAnna’s House has always been about more than a place to stay. It is about comfort, belonging and the quiet reassurance that, even in the hardest moments, no family has to face them alone.

Thank you for helping us open our doors to those with the weight of the world on their shoulders, so together we can give them the gift of being close when it matters most.

The Volunteers Who Make It Home

JoeAnna’s House was built by community generosity, and it continues to run because of selfless volunteers. They care for the laundry, housekeeping, and countless other tasks required to run a 20–30 bedroom house, but their impact goes far beyond chores. They offer warm welcomes, listening ears, and comforting hugs to families facing difficult and unexpected circumstances. Because of them, JoeAnna’s House is a home with caring friends nearby should they need one.

Our Impact

Every year, hundreds of families travel to Kelowna to access advanced medical care at Kelowna General Hospital. Some can plan for these hospital visits, but others arrive unexpectedly in the middle of the night with only the clothes on their back. JoeAnna’s House provides affordable and supportive accommodation for families so they can remain close to their loved ones while they receive medical care.
